Land’s End Announces Major Investment in New Drone Show for Summer 2026
Land’s End has today announced a significant new investment into its flagship summer events programme, confirming the launch of a brand-new drone light show as part of its iconic Magic in the Skies evenings from summer 2026.
The development marks a major evolution of one of Cornwall’s most established and successful seasonal events, and will be the first summer-long drone show of its kind in Cornwall, reinforcing Land’s End’s position as a leading visitor attraction and innovator within the region’s tourism sector.
The new drone show will form part of a long term partnership with Afterglow, an emerging Cornish drone technology business, supporting local enterprise while delivering a cutting-edge new experience for visitors.
Tom Wadsworth from Afterglow said: “As an emerging start up business in Cornwall, the opportunity to work alongside Land’s End is one that fills us with huge excitement. Being able to showcase the future of live evening outdoor entertainment to thousands of visitors at this iconic landmark destination is a privilege, and we look forward to our long term relationship together.”
The partnership reflects Land’s End’s continued commitment to investing in Cornwall-based businesses and nurturing the next generation of creative and technical talent within the county.
For more than two decades, Land’s End has hosted its Magic in the Skies firework nights throughout the peak summer season, attracting tens of thousands of visitors each year and generating significant economic benefit for the local area. The introduction of drone technology represents a carefully considered next step — enhancing an already successful format while responding to evolving audience expectations.
Commenting on the announcement, Land’s End General Manager Trevor Broome said:
“Land’s End has always taken pride in leading from the front. This investment is about more than introducing new technology — it’s about protecting the long-term future of one of Cornwall’s most loved summer events, supporting local business innovation, and continuing to raise the bar for what visitors can expect from a destination of this scale and significance.”
The new show will blend modern drone choreography with music and storytelling inspired by Cornwall’s landscape, coast and heritage, complementing the existing fireworks display rather than replacing it. The result will be a two-part evening spectacle that combines tradition with innovation, and positions Land’s End at the forefront of large-scale visitor experiences in the South West.
The partnership with Afterglow has been structured as a large scale multi-year agreement, providing stability and scope for creative development, while ensuring Land’s End retains a clear focus on quality, safety and long-term value. As a Cornish tech start-up, Afterglow represents the type of ambitious, forward-thinking business that Land’s End is keen to support as part of its wider role within the regional visitor economy.
The drone-enhanced Magic in the Skies events will launch in summer 2026, with further details to be announced later this year.
